The girlfriend of Mick Jagger — who was also a celebrated fashion designer — was found dead in her Manhattan apartment today, Monday, March 17, 2014, reports the New York Daily News.

The story reports: "The body of L’Wren Scott, 47, was found hanging from a scarf on a doorknob by her assistant at 200 11th Ave. around 10 a.m. [ET], sources said."

The article adds: "Scott texted her assistant at 8:30 a.m. and asked that she come over, police sources said. When she arrived, she let herself into the apartment with a key, found the body and called 911.

"Police did not suspect foul play, a source said, but the Medical Examiner’s Office will determine a cause of death. No suicide note was found.

"Jagger said via a spokesperson that he is ‘completely shocked and devastated by the news’ of her death. He and the Rolling Stones recently arrived in Perth, Australia, for the next leg of their world tour."
