Magnitude 4.4 Earthquake Hits Los Angeles

Many Los Angelenos were shaken awake by an earthquake this morning, March 17, 2014.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake was a magnitude 4.4 that struck at 6:25 a.m. Pacific Daylight time, and was centered near where Mullholland Dr. intersects Sepulveda Blvd. That’s also near the "top" of the popular 405 freeway, right before it goes into Los Angeles’ San Fernando Valley if one is traveling north.

Initially the earthquake was reported to be of magnitude 4.7.

Various news reports said there were no initial reports of injuries or damage.
