It was a bad opening week for MSNBC’s two newest hosts. TVNewser.com reports that the numbers for the first week for both Ronan Farrow and Joy Reid add up to a “tough debut week,” with both shows losing viewers when compared with a year earlier.

Farrow’s ratings were worse than Reid’s, with “Ronan Farrow Daily” drawing the lowest total viewers in the key news demo of viewers 25-54 out of all of MSNBC’s shows on Wednesday and Friday. Across the week, the show averaged 243,000 total viewers and 55,000 viewers in the demographic.

When compared with “Andrea Mitchell Reports” from a year earlier, Farrow’s ratings were down 40% in total viewers and 42% in the demographic, the story notes.

“With Farrow as a lead-in, Joy Reid’s Monday debut drew just 38,000 A25-54 demo viewers, the lowest demo for the entire network that day. On Wednesday, Reid drew the second-lowest demo for the network with 56,000 viewers,” the piece notes.

Overall, “The Reid Report” drew 286,800 total viewers and 63,200 viewers in the demo.
