The man who has run a Los Angeles television station for almost two decades will not be receiving any parting gifts from the station when he heads out the door.

The Los Angeles Times’ Show Tracker reports that Al Jerome, who is stepping down from the troubled public broadcaster KCET-TV, will leave without a retirement package.

"Al chose to retire, thus upon his retirement he will not receive a compensation package of any sort," a KCETLink spokeswoman wrote in an email.

As previously reported, Jerome is stepping down after leading the public-TV outlet for 18 years. During his tenure, the station left the PBS fold following a fee dispute, and the station has struggled to find viewers since going its own way.

KCET has suffered layoffs as it has coped with money problems, and Jerome’s pay was previously cut by $100,000, with his compensation now at $357,000, the story notes.
