An actor known for his work on the ABC drama series "Scandal" has landed the lead in an upcoming Lifetime drama.

The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reports that Tony Goldwyn, who plays President Fitzgerald Grant on “Scandal,” has been cast as Warren Jeffs in Lifetime’s original movie “Outlaw Prophet."

Jeffs was the leader of a fundamentalist Mormon sect that practices polygamy, and was on the FBI’s 10 most wanted list for more than a year. After being caught by a Nevada Highway Patrol trooper, Jeffs was convicted of child sexual assault and is currently serving prison time.

The project is based on the book “When Men Become Gods,” by Stephen Singular, which tracks Jeffs’ rise through his sect’s hierarchy after his father’s death.

The premiere date for the project hasn’t yet been set.
