An actress known for her roles in a string of successful romantic comedy feature films has landed the job of narrator on the new CBS sitcom project "How I Met Your Dad."

The Los Angeles Times’ Show Tracker reports that Meg Ryan, who once ruled as America’s romantic comedy sweetheart, will narrate the show, a spinoff of “How I Met Your Mother."

Ryan, whose movies include "When Harry Met Sally…," "Sleepless in Seattle, "Addicted to Love" and "You've Got Mail," will have the role that Bob Saget had in the original series, which ran for nine seasons. Saget voiced the older version of Ted, played by Josh Radnor, while on “HIMYD,” Ryan will voice the older version of a character played by Greta Gerwig.

The pilot hasn’t yet been picked up to series. CBS and producer 20th Century Fox TV had no comment, the story notes. Ryan was recently seen in episodes of Showtime’s comedy “Web Therapy.”
