BBC America Renews Drama Series -- Even Before Its Premiere LA Times
BBC America is so enthused about a new drama series that it has renewed the show for a second season months before the show's first season is set to premiere.
The Los Angeles Times’ Show Tracker reports that the cable channel ordered a second season of “The Musketeers,” a drama based on the Alexandre Dumas classic novel “The Three Musketeers." The show, a co-production of BBC America and BBC Worldwide, will debut in the U.S. on June 22.
The 10-episode first season stars Tom Burke, Howard Charles, Santiago Cabrera and Luke Pasqualino as personal bodyguards to King Louis XIII. The series also stars Peter Capaldi as the evil Cardinal Richelieu, but that role will need to be recast for the second season given that the actor is now filming “Doctor Who” in which he is playing the title role, the report notes.
The series is from Adrian Hodges, the co-creator of the BBC series “Primeval.”
