NBC Chooses Talk Show Host to Be Master of Ceremonies for This Year’s Primetime Emmys Ceremony

The Primetime Emmys will air on NBC this year, and the network has chosen one of its talk show hosts to host the big night.

Seth Meyers, who just recently took over the hosting chores on "Late Night," will host the Emmycast, which will air live on NBC on Monday, Aug. 25, 2014, NBC announced.

Historically, the Emmys are on Sunday night, but NBC moved the show to a Monday night so it does not conflict with the network's airing of NFL games on Sunday nights.

It's been a good week for Meyers. Earlier this week he was named one of the 100 most influential people by Time magazine.

That tribute was written about in Time by Amy Poehler, Meyers' friend and colleague from when they were both on "Saturday Night Live."

Poehler wrote: "His ability to connect his big-picture brain with his compassionate attention to detail makes him a great host and a loyal friend. He is a sharp performer and superior writer. But his biggest talent is the delight he takes in helping others look good."
