Comedian Sarah Silverman is joining an acclaimed TV drama series. The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reports that Silverman is set for a recurring role on season two of Showtime's “Masters of Sex."

The season is currently taping in Los Angeles and is scheduled to premiere July 13. The show stars Michael Sheen and Lizzy Caplan as the human sexuality pioneers William Masters and Virginia Johnson.

Silverman’s character, Helen, is the former lesbian lover of Betty, played by Annaleigh Ashford. Her character, a palm reader who thinks she’s psychic, still has a thing for Betty, the piece notes.

Season one of the series has been a critical success, piling up a number of honors including Golden Globe nominations for best drama series and for best drama actor for Sheen. The show also was one of six to receive the Critics' Choice Television Award for Most Exciting New Series.
