Sitcom Writer Dead at 95

A sitcom writer whose credits include the TV shows “Chico and the Man” and “Night Court” has died. Deadline.com reports that Doris Kanter died last month at 95 following a brief illness.

Kanter, who was married to writer and producer Hal Kanter for 70 years, also designed the opening title credits for her husband’s 1968-71 television show “Julia,” the piece notes.

She and Hal Kanter married in 1941, after he was drafted into the Army. He died in 2011.
