A popular cable comedy series has been picked up for a sixth season. The Hollywood Reporter's Live Feed reports that TV Land placed a 24-episode order for a new season of the Betty White sitcom "Hot in Cleveland."

The announcement was made during a rehearsal for the show's 100th episode, which tapes Friday, the report notes.

The comedy, which also stars Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves and Wendie Malick, has delivered an average of 2.6 million viewers since it launched in June 2010, the report notes. Its syndication run is set to begin in September.

Larry W. Jones, president of TV Land, said: “There’s instant magic when our cast, writers and crew get together for each episode. We’re so excited to be reaching these milestones and can’t wait to see what lies ahead in Cleveland.”

"The comedy centers on three best friends from Los Angeles who find their lives changed forever when their plane, headed for Paris, makes an emergency landing in Cleveland," the story reports. "When they discover that life is better in Cleveland, they decide to stay, renting a house that happens to come with an opinionated caretaker."
