Casey Kasem Turns Up NY Daily News
Hours after the daughter of Casey Kasem filed a missing person report with the police, the broadcasting icon was located in Washington state, the New York Daily News reports.
"We have received confirmation that Casey Kasem has been found," Kasem’s children said in a statement issued by their spokesman. "The family has grave concerns about his health and will do everything in their power to bring him back home."
The development comes after daughter Kerri Kasem won medical conservatorship over the 82-year-old Kasem, who is impaired due to Lewy body dementia, which has left him hardly able to speak. She and her siblings have been battling with their stepmother, Jean Kasem, over their father.
The spokesman for the children said, “Now that it's official, they can move forward with their plan. Today is a week since he was last in his nursing home, and they don't know if he's been taking his medication. The fact that he's been away from his medical care is a big deal and they're scared something serious could happen with his health."
Jean Kasem played the wife of Nick Tortelli on the 1980s comedy “Cheers" and on its short-lived spinoff "The Tortellis,” while Casey Kasem is known to TV viewers for providing the voice of Shaggy on “Scooby Doo" and also created the long-running radio program "American Top 40."
