Executive Shuffle at NBC

In what Nellie Andreeva describes on Deadline.com as an executive shuffle that was the focus of speculation at “party conversations during the upfronts in New York,” NBC confirmed that head of comedy development Tal Rabinowitz is leaving.

“NBC will revert to combined drama and comedy development and current departments. Head of drama development Pearlena Igbokwe is being named EVP of Drama Programming, which will encompass both development and current operations,” Andreeva writes. “Head of current Vernon Sanders is being named EVP of Comedy Programming and will head up development and current operations for comedy series.”

Both will report to NBC Entertainment President Jennifer Salke.

While Rabinowitz was brought in by NBC chief Bob Greenblatt in May 2011, the network has been struggling with its comedy slate, Andreeva notes.

She adds: “NBC has been going back-and-forth between having a dedicated current department and combined drama and comedy divisions handling both development and current.”
