Fox News Channel has hired an actress known for her role in a 1995 feature film and its television spinoff. The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reports that Stacey Dash, known for the 1995 film “Clueless" and the TV series of the same name, was hired as a contributor to the cable channel.

With the hire, the network “has gone outside the typical crowd” for a new contributor, the story notes. Dash, described by the publication as an “outspoken conservative,” will offer cultural analysis and commentary across daytime and prime time.

"Stacey is an engaging conversationalist whose distinctive viewpoints among her Hollywood peers have spawned national debates — we’re pleased to have her join Fox News," said Bill Shine, network executive vice president of news.

The TV show "Clueless" aired for three seasons in the late 1990s, with its first season on ABC before it moved to UPN.
