A crew member on “Grey’s Anatomy” is suing ABC Studios and Disney-ABC International Television, alleging he was dismissed for speaking out about “a pattern of pervasive gender discrimination and harassment perpetrated” by the drama’s director of photography, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The lawsuit, filed by best boy grip Timothy Day, claims that director of photography Herb Davis showed contempt for female workers and allegedly “misused his position of authority to subject these female directors to verbal abuse and inferior terms and conditions of employment.”

The suit claims that starting in the eighth season of the show, Davis showed “antipathy toward female directors and other female staff who were assigned to high-level positions within the production.” The lawsuit also claims that Davis made sexist jokes about women and questioned their competence, and alleges that Davis subjected female directors Debbie Allen, Allison Liddi Brown and Susan Vaill to discrimination.

Day alleges he complained to producers Jeff Rafner and Rob Corn, as well as Human Resources, and that his contract was not renewed the next season.

“A spokesman for Disney/ABC said he was not aware of the suit and was looking into it,” the story notes.
