The Television Academy has a new president and chief operating officer. TheWrap.com reports that the academy promoted Maury McIntyre to the position, replacing former President Lucy Hood, who died earlier this year.

McIntyre has been with the Academy since March 2013, when he joined as vice president of digital. He has worked on increasing the organization’s digital presence, on online voting for the Primetime Emmys and on a distribution partnership with Yahoo, the story says.

In a statement, Television Academy Chairman and CEO Bruce Rosenblum said: “Maury is a dynamic executive whose vision and experience has helped propel the Academy into the future. Equally important, Maury stepped up during a very difficult time for the Academy to not only lead the staff, but ensure that our membership and organization continued business as usual.”
