A veteran financial reporter who is The Wall Street Journal's chief economics correspondent has inked a deal with Fox Business Network. Variety reports that Jon Hilsenrath will join the cable channel as a contributor.

"Hilsenrath will continue his duties at the Journal, while making appearances on both Fox Business Network and Fox News Channel. The two TV networks are operated by 21st Century Fox while the newspaper is owned by News Corp. Both companies are controlled by Rupert Murdoch," Variety reports.

Hilsenrath's debut is expected Friday morning on FBN's “Opening Bell with Maria Bartiromo,” the piece reports, citing a network spokeswoman.

"Hilsenrath covers the Federal Reserve along with the United States and global economies, and has been with The Wall Street Journal since 1997," Variety notes. "He previously served as the paper’s Markets Editor, overseeing the global stock, bond and currency markets. He has also worked as a freelance reporter for The New York Times and Time, as well as a finance reporter for Knight-Ridder Financial News."
