Amazon Studios is in negotiations with a six-time Emmy nominee about a starring role in an upcoming dramedy project. Deadline.com reports that the studio is talking with Brian Dennehy about starring in the pilot “Cocked."

Dennehy would play the father of Sam Trammell’s character, Richard Paxson. The pair are estranged, but the son is pulled back into his family’s life when a corporate rival threatens to take over the family’s gun manufacturing company, the story notes.

Dennehy has been nominated for Primetime Emmys six times, all in the miniseries, movie and specials categories, starting with "A Killing in a Small Town" in 1990 and including "Death of a Salesman" (2000) and "Our Fathers" (2005). He won a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild Award for "Death of a Salesman."
