'Black Swan' Director Darren Aronofsky Developing Series for HBO Deadline
Director Darren Aronofsky, known for feature films including "Black Swan," "Pi" and "Requiem for a Dream," is developing a drama series for HBO. Writing on Deadline.com, Nellie Andreeva reports that the project, “MaddAddam,” is based on a book trilogy from Margaret Atwood and has Aronofsky executive producing.
The project is based on the Atwood’s “Oryx and Crake,” “Year of the Flood” and “MaddAddam,” the story notes. Aronofsky may direct the project, which is the first deal to come out of his three-year first-look deal with HBO.
The books, based in the speculative fiction genre (science fiction and fantasy), is set in a future where corporations have taken control of governments, the piece notes.
“It centers on the events before and after a Waterless Flood that wipes out almost all of the world’s population and follows an extensive cast of characters, including those responsible for the apocalypse and those struggling to survive it,” the report adds.
