NBC Coasts to Easy Win on Strength of 'Talent' TVbytheNumbers
NBC easily outdistanced its broadcast rivals in Tuesday prime time, based on Nielsen overnights for the key 18-49 demo. TVbytheNumbers.com reports that the big win for the Peacock came even as its two-hour "America's Got Talent" remained at a season low 2.6 average rating in the demo -- equaling last week's average.
NBC's "The Night Shift," meanwhile, ticked down one-tenth in the 18-49 demo from last week, notching a 1.4 average.
That was easily enough to win the night, as not one of NBC's big four broadcast rivals cracked the 1.0 mark with any of their prime-time programs. Second place in the demo went to Spanish-language Univision with a 1.1 average rating in 18-49 for prime time.
Most of the programming on the other nets consisted of repeats, including all-repeat lineups on both CBS and Fox. ABC's only fresh program, its two-hour "Extreme Weight Loss," returned with a modest 0.8 average in adults 18-49, off four-tenths of a point from the show's previous original.
For prime time overall, NBC averaged a 2.2 rating in viewers 18-49 to win the night, topping Univision (1.1 average), CBS (0.9), ABC (0.8) and Fox (0.5). NBC was also well ahead in total viewers, averaging 9.7 million to lead CBS (6.4 million), Univision (2.8 million), ABC (2.7 million) and Fox (1.2 million).
