And ... Action! Conan O'Brien Is About to Make His Acting Debut -- Watch His Announcement Video LA Times

Late-night host Conan O’Brien is making his acting debut at the age of 51. The Los Angeles Times’ Show Tracker reports that O'Brien will make an appearance in the original Syfy movie “Sharktopus vs. Pteracuda."

“While most people will be distracted by Syfy's 'Sharknado 2' on July 30, just three days later the channel will air yet another original movie starring killer sharks," the Times reports.

The film is a sequel to a 2010 Syfy movie called “Sharktopus,” with both movies produced by Roger Corman. In the sequel, which stars Robert Carradine, the half-shark, half-octopus creature fights a monster that is part pterodactyl and part barracuda.

O’Brien broke the news Monday on his TBS talk show, saying it was “the first and only film role offered to me.” He didn’t disclose any details about his role, although he has taken out a billboard in Los Angeles to promote his role for possible “Emmy and/or Oscar and/or BAFTA consideration.”
