Executive Shakeup at ABC Family

Two executives are out in what is being called a restructuring at ABC Family. Deadline.com reports that Kate Jeurgens, the cable network's chief creative officer and executive VP of original content, is among the casualties.

Jeurgens is "the executive behind ABC Family’s defining original programming including 'Pretty Little Liars,' 'The Secret Life of the American Teenager,' 'Switched at Birth' and 'The Fosters,'" the story reports.

ABC Family President Tom Ascheim announced the moves today in a memo to staffers.

"He also said [Jeurgens'] departure is resulting in a restructuring at the Disney cable network that includes the exit of SVP Acquisitions and Scheduling Lynn Stepanian, the odd person out in a new plan to combine Business Strategy, Planning & Development and Scheduling & Acquisitions under one roof and one leader," the story reports. "Both Jeurgens and Stepanian are departing later this week."

In his memo, Ascheim writes: "A few months ago, Kate came to talk to me about her future and what she was feeling excited about. Ultimately, she felt that she needed to make a change. She has been here for over ten years and has accomplished much. She has also seen a lot of transition and had decided that she was ready to explore something new. I was disappointed but really understand anyone’s yen for a change of scene. I asked her to please stay on through pilot season and the summer launches and she graciously agreed."
