New Alec Baldwin TV Project Draws Comparisons to Controversial Toronto Mayor Rob Ford

“30 Rock” actor Alec Baldwin is developing a new television project that would see him playing a Rob Ford-like version of the mayor of New York City, Deadline.com reports.

Ford is the much-lampooned mayor of Toronto, who has admitted to smoking crack cocaine and public drunkenness but has refused to resign his post.

Deadline notes: “That should be edgy stuff, since it is being fashioned as a one-hour cable series. Wells Tower is writing the pilot, and Baldwin will exec produce with Cary Brokaw.”

The project comes after Baldwin turned down several roles while his wife was pregnant. He also has two movie projects in the works, including reportedly being in talks for “Mission: Impossible 5,” where he would play the chief of the CIA. He’s also reported to be in talks to join a Sony Pictures movie about football concussions.
