Rosie O’Donnell is said to be in “active negotiations” to return to ABC's “The View,” reports TMZ.com.

“We're told Rosie's people are discussing money and other terms with execs from the beleaguered show. She's definitely interested in coming back if the money is right, and we're told the negotiations are far along,” the story notes. “We're told the deal could be sealed shortly” and could be announced as soon as today, July 8, the piece adds.

The show is searching for replacements for Sherri Shepherd and Jenny McCarthy, who were booted from the show late last month, as we reported previously.

O'Donnell had a run as moderator and co-host on "The View" starting in September 2006, finding herself at the center of a number of controversies — including reportedly clashing with Barbara Walters over O'Donnell's ongoing war of words with Donald Trump — before O'Donnell and ABC agreed to terminate her contract in May 2007.

O'Donnell's political debates with "The View" co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck reportedly gave the show some of it's best ratings. Here's a classic clip from May 2007, near the end of O'Donnell's run on the show:
