Now we know who will play Dan Rather in the movie that's being made about the "60 Minutes II" story that has been called "Rathergate." The veteran CBS newsman will be played by screen legend Robert Redford, TVNewser.com reports.

The movie, "Truth," examines a 2005 CBS News story focused on President George W. Bush’s military record. The story, which was called alternatively Memogate and Rathergate, “would cost several CBS Newsers their jobs, and cost Rather millions of dollars,” TVNewser reports.

“Truth” is based on the 2005 memoir "Truth and Duty: The Press, The President, and The Privilege of Power" by former CBS News producer Mary Mapes, who was fired by CBS after an investigation found flaws in the report. Cate Blanchett will portray Mapes.

CBS News had no comment on the casting.

Redford has portrayed journalists before, playing Bob Woodward in “All the President’s Men” and appearing as a Miami news director in the 1996 film “Up Close and Personal.”
