A former "Saturday Night Live" regular has a new project in the works, directing a comedy special starring a fellow comedian.

Deadline.com reports that Rob Schneider, who was on "SNL" from 1990-1994, is working with his friend and comedian Max Amini, directing his hourlong special “Max Amini: Authentically Absurd."

The special will be filmed during a sold-out performance in L.A. scheduled for July 26. It will be the latest independent venture for Schneider, who recently developed a comedy series called “Real Rob,” which he co-created, directed and starred in, the piece notes.

All proceeds from “Authentically Absurd” will be donated to ALS research. Amini was a finalist in NBC’s Diversity Showcase, and also appears on “Real Rob.”
