After struggling with runaway production for years, the city of Los Angeles appears to be enjoying a resurgence in TV production.
L.A. saw a boom in television production in the second quarter, with an increase of one-third over a year earlier, reports the Los Angeles Times’ Company Town.
The gains were made across all genres, including dramas, sitcoms, reality and Web-based television, according to FilmL.A. Inc., which handles film permits for Los Angeles.
“The increase in part reflects the new emphasis on fresh programming for the summer — once a slow period of reruns and pilots, said FilmL.A. President Paul Audley,” the story reports.
Said Audley: “The amount of television increase surprised us until we realized a lot of it is driven by a new summer schedule with much more original content then we've seen in the past."
