The Weather Channel has cut jobs on one of its most high-profile shows. TVNewser reports that the cable channel trimmed a dozen freelance production jobs on Sam Champion’s new morning show, “AMHQ with Sam Champion,” just four months after its debut.
A representative for the network said the show’s daily studio contract schedule was changed “to gain some efficiency post-launch,” adding that no staff jobs were lost “and there are no cuts ahead.” The network is also seeking to fill several full-time roles, the rep said.
The show had a slow start, but has improved, with “AMHQ” beating MSNBC in June in the 7-10 a.m. block in the target news demo of viewers 25-54, the story notes.
