Circuit City Asks FCC to Remove DTV Fines

May 14, 2008  •  Post A Comment

Circuit City Stores Inc. said in a filing that the Federal Communications Commission should reduce or eliminate fines imposed against it for not labeling analog-only televisions with notices that they will need to be retrofitted after the switch to digital television, the Associated Press reports. The electronics retailer claims the FCC does not have the jurisdiction to enforce the rule to keep consumers from buying analog TV equipment, the wire service says. Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and Best Buy Co. also were fined, the wire service notes.
