Simon Cowell tells the New York Times that he was “not negotiating” in his recent comments to the Daily Mirror of London that he’s considering leaving his judging role on “American Idol” after an additional season.” Cowell, who is paid an estimated $36 million a year by Fox, has not yet held formal talks with the network, the newspaper reports, citing an unnamed senior Fox executive. “I don’t want to get bored, and I don’t want the audience to get bored,” Cowell tells the Times.

  1. Thirty-six million a year? Can someone please tell me who in the ENTIRE WORLD is worth that sum? Brain surgeons? Nope. Cancer researchers? Not even close. I like him on the show; he makes it a little interesting. But please. Why not bring in someone we’ve actually heard of, with skins on the wall (Teletubbies doesn’t count!) and pay them a third of that. I know some near-has-beens in music who would jump at the chance. Good grief.
