NBC Uses Facebook to Promote ‘Community’; Creating Fans Who Really Aren’t Yet

Aug 12, 2009  •  Post A Comment

NBC is using unconventional tactics to create a buzz surrounding its new comedy series “Community,” reports B&C.

The network is streaming the pilot episode of the comedy on commercial free Facebook until August 14.

To be able to view the episodes, however, the potential viewer first has to become a Facebook “fan” of the show, an action which will be transmitted to their friends via the site’s news feed.

The show is set to kick of this fall with stars Chevy Chase and “The Soup’s” Joel McHale.

Interestingly, NBC has not announced any tie-in between the new series and Hulu, the online service it co-owns.

  3. I love the way you write and also the theme on your blog. Did you code this yourself or was it done by a professional? I’m very very impressed.
