The return of CBS’s "NCIS" was the highest rated show of Tuesday night with 20 million viewers, leading the network’s two new shows — "NCIS: Los Angeles" and "The Good Wife" — to strong numbers as well, 18.3 million and nearly 14 million, respectively, according to the Hollywood Reporter Live Feed blog.

ABC came in second for the night with "Dancing with the Stars" getting over 15 million viewers and the newcomer "The Forgotten" enticing 9.5 million to watch.

  1. The big numbers for NCIS are well deserved. The producers and writer full understand the importance of the human relationships in the show. That’s what draws the audience. It is amazing to me how few network executives understand what makes a good tv show. It’s the people…people. In drama and in comedy…pay attention to the relationships…make them interesting.
