Report: Leno Moving Back to 11:30

Jan 7, 2010  •  Post A Comment

"The Jay Leno Show," currently airing on NBC weeknights at 10 p.m., will go on hiatus Feb. 1 and return to its old 11:30 p.m. timeslot after NBC’s coverage of the Winter Olympics ends, TMZ is reporting, citing unnamed "sources."

According to the Web site, the fate of "The Tonight Show With Conan O’Brien," currently in the 11:30 slot, is not clear.

Earlier today, the network denied a report that Leno’s show had been canceled, and issued that same denial when asked for comment on the time change by TMZ.

NBC did not respond to a request for comment on the timeslot change from the Star-Ledger

  1. If it is true, they need to do it!!! “The Jay Leno Show” was not a good idea.

  2. I love the new Jay Leno Show at its current place 10PM. I never see the 11.30 it is just too late and talk shows are not worth to Tivo either.

  3. I hope this is true. Jay Leno is OK, but he can’t carry a show by himself – let’s face it, he’s no Johnny Carson.
Now if he would only get rid of that idiot “musician,” and bring back somebody like Doc Severinson; or perhaps just use recorded music and find a good sidekick.

  4. The move back to 11:35PM is a good one both for Leno and NBC. Ditto for Conan to 12:05AM. Leno’s format would most likely be a comedy monolog at the start, a single guest, and a musical number at the end. As to a sidekick other than the bandleader – not enough time to make it work. Also, I would bring back Leno’s old set, the 10PM one does not work. As to Conan, he really needs more ‘bite’ to his comedy material And needs to drop the Andy Ricter podium bit and return him to the couch. Conan needs to tone down the wild physical movements a few degrees – its getting old. Good move NBC, now you just need to work on primetime and drop all those reality shows – scripted series work better, maybe its time to bring back Seinfeld?

  5. NBC needs to acquire rights to the British show “Fifth Gear” and let Leno be the host. The format of that show works perfectly for Leno and it’s the number one late night program in the UK.

  6. How old are you, anyway? Would you rather NBC dig Johnny Carson up and have HIM host The Tonight Show? Srsly. Jay can’t carry a show by himself? He did just fine for 17 years until NBC decided otherwise.

  7. I think “The Biggest Loser” could move to 9PM(ET) on Tuesday Nights so that they do not go head-to-head with “American Idol” from 8-9PM(ET)?

  8. This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like ‘Mixview’ that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you’re listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of “neighbors” will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune “Social” is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.

  9. I’ll gear this review to 2 types of people: current Zune owners who are considering an upgrade, and people trying to decide between a Zune and an iPod. (There are other players worth considering out there, like the Sony Walkman X, but I hope this gives you enough info to make an informed decision of the Zune vs players other than the iPod line as well.)
