CBS News Has Talked to a Major News Personality at Another Network About an Anchor Job

With Katie Couric’s “CBS Evening News” contract expiring next year, CBS executives have talked to another big-name news personality about an anchor job, The New York Times reports, citing sources who were told of the meeting.

It’s CNN’s Anderson Cooper, who already contributes to CBS’ “60 Minutes.” The paper says the talks took place several months ago, and it’s unclear if Cooper is being considered as a possible Couric replacement.

  1. I’m really sorry to see Katie Couric leave CBS Evening News, if that is indeed the case. She broke a long-entrenched glass ceiling, and for that, deserves admiration – hopefully she will not leave CBS News, but if she does, I wish her the best wherever she goes. As to Anderson Cooper, if Katie leaves the network, he is a really great choice. I remember watching and enjoying his performance on the overnight ABC news show decades back. Anderson never seems to age – and he is an experienced newsman. Good luck to him if he takes the spot. -Andrew Boggs, BA-
