Google revealed Monday that it has partnered with some high-profile content providers for the anticipated rollout of Google TV, which the Web giant is calling a “multimillion-channel” TV system, CNN reported.

HBO, Netflix, Pandora and the NBA are among the big-name brands that have been announced as partners in the project.

The system, to be run by Google’s Android operating system, will enable users to view a wide variety of Web content on their TV sets, according to the story.

Google announced the partnerships through a post on its official blog. Other outlets reported to be signed on are CNN.com, TBS, TNT, Cartoon Network and Adult Swim. NBC Universal plans to include stock-tracking system CNBC Real Time, while Twitter will provide a feature enabling users to tweet while they watch a show.

Ambarish Kenghe, developer/product manager for Google TV, posted: "One of our goals with Google TV is to finally open up the living room and enable new innovation from content creators, programmers, developers and advertisers."
