All-Time Low for ‘Survivor’ Finale as NFL Dominates Sunday Ratings

National Football League action gave NBC another win Sunday in the Nielsen overnights, while CBS notched an all-time low for a “Survivor” finale, according to TVbytheNumbers.com.

NBC finished the night with a 6.1 average rating in adults 18-49, to a 4.4 rating for CBS, followed by Fox with a 2.0 and ABC at 1.8, with the latter two networks airing all repeats. NBC’S margin over CBS was narrower in total viewers, but the Peacock Network came out on top with an average of 17.5 million for the night to CBS’s 15.7 million.

At 7 p.m. the overrun from the late CBS NFL broadcast combined with the start of "60 Minutes" for an average rating of 5.5 in the 18-49 demo for the hour, while NBC’s pre-game earned a mean score of 3.4 in the same demo for the hour.

At 8 p.m. the NBC broadcast of the New England Patriots vs. the Green Bay Packers kicked off with an average 6.2 in the 18-49 demo for the hour. The first hour of CBS’s "Survivor" had a 4.25 average in the 18-49 demo for the time slot.

The 9 p.m. hour saw NBC’s game collect a 7.3 rating in 18-49, while "Survivor" slipped to a 4.1.

At 10 p.m. NBC’s football game wrapped the night with a 7.55 average in the 18-49 demo. CBS’s "Survivor" reunion episode managed a 3.8 in the 18-49 demo for the hour.

Overall, "Survivor" was down 7% from last season and the preliminary ratings had it as the show’s lowest-rated season finale in the 18-49 demo.
