Actor, author and activist Don Cheadle, who earned an Oscar nomination for best actor for his role in “Hotel Rwanda,” has a new project in the works, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Cheadle will star in the Showtime pilot “House of Lies,” based on the book “House of Lies: How Management Consultants Steal Your Watch and Tell You the Time.”

The show, created by Matthew Carnahan (“Dirt”), is described as a half-hour dark comedy. It is slated to begin production in February, the story says.

“Don Cheadle is one of the great dramatic actors of our generation,” said Showtime Entertainment President David Nevins. “He also happens to be an extremely funny man. ‘House of Lies’ is the perfect show to take advantage of both sides of him. Honestly, I would have been happy just to get his autograph.”

Cheadle has been active in campaigning against the genocide in Darfur, Sudan, and co-wrote the book “Not on Our Watch: The Mission to End Genocide in Darfur and Beyond.”
