Competitor Pays Tribute to King as His Run on CNN Comes to an End

Dec 16, 2010  •  Post A Comment

Among the many tributes to Larry King on the day of his final CNN episode of "Larry King Live" was a full-page ad in USA Today from one of CNN’s chief competitors in cable news, reports TVNewser.com.

The stark, bold ad from MSNBC read, “53 Years of Broadcasting. 50,000 Interviews. 75 Pairs of Suspenders. One of a Kind. Larry, thank you for everything you’ve done to advance cable news.”

In addition to the ad, MSNBC host Rachel Maddow said of King, "The Larry King interview is an American institution, and nothing about the ups and downs of the cable industry and its competition from broadcast and all the other developments in our business can change that. He is an institution for a reason.”

The final installment of "Larry King Live" is scheduled to air tonight on CNN.
