NFL Broadcasts Again Dominate Sunday Ratings

The NFL delivered strong Nielsen numbers Sunday for both Fox, with its late game overrun, and NBC, with a prime-time showdown between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Baltimore Ravens, reports TVbytheNumbers.com.

NBC easily won the night overall, finishing with a 5.7 average rating in adults 18-49, to Fox’s 4.6. CBS trailed with a 2.6 rating in 18-49, followed closely by ABC with a 2.5

In total viewers it was NBC by a wide margin with an average of 16.1 million to Fox’s 11.6 million, CBS’s 10.9 million and ABC’s 8.7 million.

At 7 p.m. Fox’s NFL runover produced a 9.3 rating and a 5.8, respectively, in the 18-49 demographic for the top and bottom halves of the hour. NBC’s "Football Night in America" averaged a 2.2 in the same demo, and CBS’s "60 Minutes" had a 2.05 mean in that demo for the hour. ABC’s "America’s Funniest Home Videos" averaged a 1.9 rating for the hour in the 18-49 demo.

At 8 p.m. the first hour of NBC’s game coverage collected a 5.0 rating and a 7.2, respectively, in the 18-49 demographic. Fox’s "The Simpsons" and "The Cleveland Show" had a 4.2 and a 3.2, respectively, in the same demo, while CBS’s "The Amazing Race" pulled in a 3.0 in that demo for the hour. ABC’s "Extreme Makeover" averaged a 2.2 in the 18-49 for the hour.

NBC’s NFL broadcast was tops for the 9 p.m. hour with a 7.25 average in the 18-49 demo. ABC’s "Desperate Housewives" followed with at 3.5 in the 18-49 demo, while a second ep of "The Cleveland Show" on Fox, followed by "American Dad," had a 2.8 rating and a 2.5, respectively, in that demo. CBS’s "Undercover Boss" had a 2.7 average in the 18-49 demo for the hour.

At 10 p.m. Pittsburgh vs. Baltimore averaged a 7.4 in the 18-49 demo for NBC. CBS’s "CSI: Miami" had a 2.5 mean score for the hour in the 18-49 demo, while ABC’s "Brothers & Sisters" had a 2.2 average in the 18-49 demo for the hour.
