Prelim Nears in Michael Jackson Manslaughter Case–With About 30 Witnesses to Be Called

The preliminary hearing in the manslaughter case against Michael Jackson doctor Conrad Murray is expected to last about two weeks and to include about 30 witnesses, TMZ.com reports.

The Web site reports that a “Perry Mason moment” is not expected, but rather that prosecutors are likely to produce a meticulous argument to support their claim that Murray acted recklessly when he provided Propofol and other medications to Jackson on the day he died.

Witnesses are expected to include Los Angeles Police detectives and medical experts. The legal theory, the story notes, is a novel one–that a doctor committed homicide in treating a patient. Therefore, a substantial amount of evidence is expected to be presented.
