After two months on the air, CNN’s political talk show "Parker Spitzer" has failed to turn around the network’s prime-time ratings. Instead, the show’s own ratings are stagnant there’s talk of tension behind the scenes of the show, The New York Times reports.

There’s also speculation that CNN could make co-host Eliot Spitzer the sole host of the program, the article notes.

That’s something that CNN executives and the show’s co-hosts–Spitzer and Kathleen Parker–denied, the story says. Instead, they stressed that the show was still finding its footing.

During the show’s first seven weeks, it has averaged just 140,000 viewers between the ages of 25 and 54, which represents a drop of 2,000 from the seven weeks before it started, the article points out.

Its competitors on MSNBC and Fox News, "Countdown With Keith Olbermann" and "The O’Reilly Factor," reach twice and five times as many viewers in that demographic, respectively.

Parker denied an intent to leave "Parker Spitzer," saying the show is "absolutely a work in progress."
