A close friend of the suspect in the Arizona shooting rampage that killed six people and wounded 14, including Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, told the publication Mother Jones that Jared Lee Loughner had held a grudge against Giffords for years.

Bryce Tierney also said he received a call from Loughner, an old friend from high school and college, about eight hours before the shootings. Tierney said he didn’t answer the phone, but later heard Loughner’s message, which said simply, "Hey man, it’s Jared. Me and you had good times. Peace out. Later."

Tierney said he had a sick feeling when he heard the news about the massacre. "They hadn’t released the name, but I said, ‘Holy shit, I think it’s Jared that did it,’" Tierney told the publication.

According to the article: “Loughner’s animus toward Giffords intensified after he attended one of her campaign events and she did not, in his view, sufficiently answer a question he had posed, Tierney says. He also describes Loughner as being obsessed with ‘lucid dreaming’–that is, the idea that conscious dreams are an alternative reality that a person can inhabit and control–and says Loughner became ‘more interested in this world than our reality.’ Tierney adds, ‘I saw his dream journal once. That’s the golden piece of evidence. You want to know what goes on in Jared Loughner’s mind, there’s a dream journal that will tell you everything.’

The article links to a video that Loughner reportedly put up on YouTube that also references the dream world. Here is the video:

  1. I KNEW it was Palin’s fault !!!!!

  2. So did she…That’s why she felt obligated to release a very defensive video!

  3. It’s the story of the century … until everyone forgets and the next sad massacre takes place.
