The "Bones" spinoff proposed by Fox has taken a step forward with its first casting–an Academy  Award-nominated actor, reports Deadline.com.

Michael Clarke Duncan, who is probably best known for his breakout Oscar-nominated performance as John Coffey in "The Green Mile," has been cast to co-star in the project, which is set to be introduced in the 19th episode of "Bones" this season, the article notes.

The spinoff is based on "The Locator" books written by Richard Greener, with Duncan tapped to play the partner of "the Locator," a former military policeman who can play anything. That part is still being cast, the article notes. The role marks the first regular TV job for Duncan, it adds.
