Retrans Update: Deal Reached in DirecTV/Hearst Dispute, as Sinclair Extends Contract Talks With Time Warner and Bright House

One retransmission consent agreement has been reached, with Hearst Television and DirecTV reaching a new deal, according to Multichannel News,

 Meanwhile, while another blackout has been temporarily diverted as Sinclair Broadcast and Time Warner Cable extended contract talks for two more weeks, reports the Associated Press (AP).. 

But even if Sinclair hadn’t agreed to the extension, the AP says that Time Warner would have imported signals from other cities to replace the broadcast stations so its customers could still watch network programming.

Sinclair has also been locked in contract talks with Bright House Networks, another cable provider, over the fees that cable companies pay to rebroadcast its stations. The new deadline for talks between Sinclair and the cable operators expires on Jan. 14, the article notes.
