War of Words Escalates Between Rock Band, ‘Glee’ Creator

A war of words is raging between the creator of a hit TV show and a popular rock band, Rolling Stone reports.

“Glee” creator Ryan Murphy lashed out in a story in The Hollywood Reporter against the band Kings of Leon, calling them “self-centered assholes” for denying the show the rights to one of the band’s songs.

On Wednesday, Kings of Leon drummer Nathan Followill fired back in a tweet, saying Murphy should “see a therapist, get a manicure, buy a new bra,” the Rolling Stone story says.

The tweet has since been deleted, the story notes.

The Hollywood Reporter story hit the newsstands today. In it, Murphy uses the Kings of Leon incident as an opportunity to defend the show. Kings of Leon, he tells the publication, “missed the big picture. They missed that a 7-year-old kid can see someone close to their age singing a Kings of Leon song, which will maybe make them want to join a glee club or pick up a musical instrument. It’s like, OK, hate on arts education. You can make fun of ‘Glee’ all you want, but at its heart, what we really do is turn kids on to music.”
