Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding may mark the first time viewers get to watch a royal marriage in 3D, Bloomberg reports.

British Sky Broadcasting Group is negotiating with royal officials to show the event on television, with talks including shooting the wedding in 3D and transmitting it to movie theaters, the story notes.

It’s not clear if broadcasters will have to pay to show the wedding, the story adds, noting that Prince Charles and Diana’s marriage in 1981 drew a global TV audience of 750 million, making it what the BBC says was the most popular program ever broadcast.

The article notes that test shots have been taken inside the church and a broadcast rights announcement may be announced in a few weeks.
