NBC has handed out early renewals to three of its programs for the 2011-12 television season, reports the Los Angeles Times’ ShowTracker blog.

The orders–for "The Biggest Loser," "The Sing-Off" and "Who Do You Think You Are?"–are among the first from new NBC programming chief Bob Greenblatt, who moved to NBC from Showtime, the story points out.

"The Biggest Loser" is a mainstay of NBC’s Tuesday schedule with an average audience of 9 million viewers this winter, and "The Sing-Off," an a capella singing contest, averaged 9.2 million total viewers with its most recent cycle, which ended in December, the story notes.

While "Who Do You Think You Are" averaged just 7 million viewers, it’s NBC’s most-watched Friday show this season, the article adds.

  1. Outsourced deserves to be renewed. The people at NBC who keep renewing Celebrity Apprentice and programs about America’s Next Great Restaurant, might want to remember that shows that became mega-hits (and generated residuals for years) like Seinfield and All int he Family had terrible ratings their first year. Give Outsourced a chance— it’s original and soetimes– gasp!— really funny.
