Aaron Sorkin’s HBO drama pilot about a cable news show is in talks with a three-time Golden Globe nominee about a starring role,reports Deadline.com.

It’s actor Jeff Daniels, who would play Will McCallister, a news anchor who has his own show and staff, the story says. He’s said to be an anchor who is a "smart and talented guy but just a pain in the ass to work with and for," the story says.

Sorkin spent time with Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews in researching the show, the story notes.
