Longtime ABC Exec May Take Top Job at CW

A longtime ABC executive is believed to be close to taking over the top job at The CW from departing chief Dawn Ostroff, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The executive is Mark Pedowitz, who has reportedly been in talks and is said to be poised to take the job. Meanwhile, Executive Vice President of Drama Thom Sherman is likely to take on a larger creative role at the network. The story points out that the pair previously worked together at ABC.

Pedowitz, who has more recently worked as a producer after setting up Pine Street Entertainment last year, previously worked as head of both business affairs and the studio unit at ABC, the article notes. His relationships with executives at Warner Bros. Television, where Pine Street has a first-look deal, and CBS are thought to give him an advantage, since The CW’s top executive reports to both CBS and Warner Bros.
