Showtime Renews One High-Profile Show, Cancels Another

Showtime announced that it is renewing one high-profile show and canceling another one, Deadline.com reported.

Being picked up for a fourth season is “Nurse Jackie,” which stars Edie Falco. Meanwhile, the pay-cable network is canceling “United States of Tara.”

Falco earned an Emmy last year for the dark comedy “Nurse Jackie,” which is written and executive produced by Liz Brixius and Linda Wallem, with Richie Jackson also executive producing. The show has been averaging 762,000 viewers for its Monday night telecast and 2.8 million viewers weekly.

Toni Collette also won an Emmy, for the comedy “United States of Tara,” which has averaged 326,000 viewers for its Monday telecast in its third season, with weekly viewing down to 1.9 million from 2.7 million last year.
